CAMEROON NATIONAL
SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

A 10-hectare site offered to the CNSC celebrated on 23 September 2020.

The CNSC General Manager, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda had the pleasure to be shown around the site by Mr. Gabriel Bienvenu Ayia, Mayor of the Mengang council area. He was flanked by the Divisional Officer, Mme Sylvie Chantal Lombo and some personalities of the Nyong and Mfoumou Division.

The piece of land offered to the CNSC by the Akono Ateba family of Ngoulentang village is strategically located seven kilometres from Ayos along the national highway No.10.

The acquisition of the piece of land will enable the CNSC to carry on with its vast and ambitious programme to build trucker accommodation centres along the Douala-Bangui and Douala - Ndjamena corridors. In particular, the CNSC is working to erect befitting truck parks set aside primarily for persons transporting transit goods. The idea is to provide truckers, their assistants, goods and other road users with conducive and secure parks.

Taking the floor during the event that brought together the CNSC and the donor community, the Mayor of Mengang expressed his joy to have the CNSC as a privileged partner. This is so because, apart from contributing to the facilitation of transit transport of goods coming from or bound for Chad and the CAR, the Ngoulentang Trucker Accommodation Centre will go a long way to create many jobs and boost the economy of the area.

The CNSC General Manager thanked all the movers and shakers in the Mengang Subdivision and the Nyong and Mfoumou Division who mobilised for the project to take shape. He also expressed his gratitude to the CNSC Board Chairman for his personal involvement in the endeavour.

The announcement that work will commence soon on the site was greeted by the crowd which thronged the venue to commune with the CNSC. The inhabitants of the village jumped for joy when the CNSC General Manager presented a series gifts in a typical African tradition to seal the marriage between the CNSC and the community of Ngoulentang.
