Traffic in Suez Canal gradually resumes

The Taiwan-owned container ship "Ever Given", which ran aground on Egypt's Suez Canal on 23 March, was refloated on 29 March 2021.

Consequently, activities have gradually resumed in this global maritime transport artery. According to RFI, the interruption of maritime traffic on the Suez Canal was costing around $ 4,000 million per hour. The ship “Ever Given” thus lost more than $ 29 billion, or 16,127 billion francs, to world trade. According to dependable sources, more than 80 boats use the Suez Canal per day with at least four million tonnes of goods, representing 12% of world trade.
