Female staff of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) communed with internally displaced and refugee women at a training workshop on the manufacture of cleaning products with a view to empowering these disadvantaged women.
Organised by CNCC Ladies under the sponsorship of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council, some 25 women learned how to prepare several basic cleaning products such as liquid soap, bleach and vinegar.
The workshop, conducted by the Douala V branch of the Centre for the Promotion of Women and the Family (CPFF) in Bonamoussadi, provided a great occasion for communion, collaboration and learning in a cheerful atmosphere. The workshop enabled participants to understand and be able to replicate the manufacturing process of the said cleaning products.
At the end of the workshop, materials required for the manufacture of these products were gifted to participants. Every woman left the training workshop fully capable to produce and market her own products so as to be financially autonomous and thus achieve some social, family and personal balance.
The Director of the Centre for the Promotion of Women and the Family of Douala V, Mrs. Berthe Nsoga, confessed it was an enriching experience, especially since it was the first time that their Centre was hosting such an initiative.
