Staff of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) took part in a number of sporting activities (a fitness walk, handball and football matches) organised in the run-up to the celebration of International Labour Day (IWD-2024).
The Douala Parcours Vita sports ground was the first to host CNSC sporting activities on 27 April 2024. The various keep-fit activities organised there were replicated by staff working at CNSC regional offices and trucker accommodation centres in Yaoundé, Limbe, Kribi, Garoua and Ngoulentang.
With its stands filled by CNSC staff, the Reunification Stadium in Douala hosted two sporting events on Sunday 28 April 2024. These were chaired by Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, CNSC's General Manager, and his special guest Mr. Abba Kafougou, Secretary General of the Union of African Shippers' Councils (UASC).
The men's football match resulted in a 3-2 win for Sylvain Mbang’s White Team. The same score gave a win to the women's handball team captained by Miss Agnes Ngono.
At the end of these highly engaging encounters, both winners and losers were awarded medals and trophies for their bravery. As Pierre de Courbertin puts it: "The most important thing is not to win, but to participate". The two matches marked the end of the 2024 edition of the "Mini Tournoi du Directeur Général- CNCC"
