The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in collaboration with the Economic Commission of Central African States (ECCAS) recently organised an online training course on trade facilitation. The 3-month e-learning course, which started in April and concluded in July 2021, centred on 10 modules regarding the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) adopted on 7 December 2013 in Bali, Indonesia by the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The high-level training course under the supervision of Mr. Paul Hansen, Head, Trade Facilitation Section, UNCTAD brought together more than a hundred senior officials, members of National Trade Facilitation Committees in Central and West Africa.  The Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) was represented at the training course by Mr. Alex Nkondje, Director for Trade Facilitation and Transport Observatory (DFAL) who equally represents the CNSC at the Technical Secretariat of the National Trade Facilitation Committee in Cameroon (CONAFE).

The training aimed at building the capacities of National Trade Facilitation Committees (NTFC). "The specific objective of the course was to make participants better understand the WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation", Cameroon National Shippers' Council's Director for Trade Facilitation and Transport Observatory (DFAL) Mr. Alex Nkondje who emerged best trainee of the webinar said. "To this end, I would like to extend my warm and sincere congratulations to Mr. Alex Nkondje for projecting the image of the CNSC and that of the entire Douala port community, thus raising Cameroon's flag high," Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, CNSC General Manager said visibly satisfied.”
