Visiting Cameroon as part of an assessment mission to evaluate the application of recommendations made in 2021 with regards to the implementation of the ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security) Code, a team from the US Coast Guards was received on 23 April 2024 at the head office of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC).

The meeting, chaired by CNSC's General Manager, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, was an opportunity for Lieutenant Commanders Nathaniel Clinger, Jorge Teller, Khiem Nagy and Mr. Dean Horton to elaborate on the objective of the Code. They were in return briefed on some initiatives taken by the CNSC to promote the application of the ISPS Code in Cameroon. These initiatives include capacity building for port stakeholders and expert contributions at various meetings organised on port safety and security.

At the close of discussions, the US Coast Guards, joined by officials from the Ministry of Transport, commended all these efforts made by the CNSC. The team will prepare an evaluation report which will be submitted to the Minister of Transport following discussions with other senior officials from port administrations.
