The General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, today 24 January 2024 received his counterpart from the Deposits and Consignment Fund (CDEC), Mr. Richard Evina Obam. The meeting, which took place at CNSC's head office in Douala, was part of an outreach mission by CDEC's management. Flanked by their closest collaborators, the two general managers discussed various avenues of collaboration that could be pursued in the future.
It is noteworthy that this financial institution was created in Cameroon by a law passed on 14 April 2008 regulating deposits and consignments, supplemented by a decree dated 15 April 2011 regulating the organisation and functioning of CDEC.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the main mission of the Deposit and Consignment Fund is to collect, secure and maximise long-term returns on resources that are generally "underutilised", so that they can be channeled towards supporting public policies. These resources are obtained from regulated savings, deposits from notaries or legal professions, administrative deposits and bonds, funds from national savings or social security funds, pension funds and pension schemes from insurance and guarantee funds.
