The 3rd edition of the Chantal Biya International Mountain Bike Race, an initiative championed by the First Lady, was officially launched on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, during a press conference by Mr. Joseph Le, Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform and promoter of the competition slated from 7 to 8 August 2026 in the East Region.  

 

He was assisted by Mr. Jean de Dieu Momo, Minister Delegate at the Ministry of Justice; Mr. Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua, Governor of the Littoral Region, and many other personalities and heads of public corporations. Amongst them was Mr. Cyrus Ngo’o and Mr. August Mbappe Penda, respectively Director General of the Port Authority of Douala and General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers’ Council (CNSC).

 

The Mountain Bike Race will bring together Cameroonian, African and European cyclists on the renovated tracks of the Bagofit Sun City in Abong-Mbang, East Region.  On the sidelines of this year’s Chantal Biya International Mountain Bike Race is the first edition of the Bagofit International Business Week - 2026.

 

“The event offers a business platform for thematic discussions to spotlight the economic, artistic and cultural potential of the East Region”, explained Mr. Alphonse Wouamane Mbele, Chairman of the East Regional Council. 

 

Through this event themed “Connecting East Cameroon to Global Investment”, the organisers seek to showcase the endowments of the East Region and thus attract business persons, investors, business partners and heads of enterprises.
