CAMEROON NATIONAL
SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

The Union of African Shippers’ Councils (UASC), headquartered in Douala, has been hosting the ordinary session of its Steering Committee since Wednesday 8 July 2026.

Jointly organised by the Secretariat General of the UASC in collaboration with the Cameroon National Sippers' Council (CNSC), this meeting brings together 15 African shippers’ councils. In total, eight Chief Executive Officers and some sixty delegates are taking part in the proceedings, underscoring the importance of holding this two-day meeting in Cameroon.

The official opening ceremony featured two key addresses. CNSC's General Manager Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, who doubles as UASC's Statutory Treasurer, welcomed the participants.

The current UASC President and General Manager of the Congolese Shippers’ Council (CCC), Dr. Dominique Candide Fabrice Koumou Boulas, highlighted the key issues at stake in this meeting, emphasising that “this meeting is being held at a time when the global economy is facing numerous crises affecting the maritime sector”.

The session offers participants the opportunity to address several issues, including the costs and transit times for goods passing through ports, the impact of freight rates, surcharges on Africa's international trade, and the harmonisation of the cargo tracking note.

The Steering Committee will also examine matters on the functioning of the UASC, the implementation of previous resolutions, and initiatives aimed at improving the conditions for the international transport of goods in Africa.
