Today Monday, 10 July 2023, Mr. Auguste MBAPPE PENDA, General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), received in audience a delegation from the new Executive Bureau of the High Business Council of the Economic Community of Central African States (HBC-ECCAS).
Led by its chairman, Mr. Eric Monga, the delegation consisted of Mr. Daniel Claude Abate, Vice-Chairman; Mrs. Agathe Missamou, Rapporteur; and Mrs. Gloria Kamanzi, Treasurer.
The objective of the meeting is to boost trade between ECCAS member countries, at a time when Central Africa seems to be lagging behind Africa's eight other economic communities. The council has as long-term objective to eliminate all difficulties associated with transport corridors, multimodal transport and the movement of people and goods, among others. Their visit to the CNSC in Cameroon is the first stop of a tour that will take the delegation to all 11 ECCAS member States.
As a reminder, the ECCAS Commission included among the priorities of its Medium-Term Strategic Plan 2021-2025, the establishment of a High Business Council for Central Africa which was eventually created in Kinshasa (DRC) on 17 October 2022. The said council is headquartered in Malabo and seeks to be the first point of reference for regional institutions by defending and promoting the interests of businesses and entrepreneurs in all ECCAS member States, thereby spearheading central Africa's integration process.
