The Douala Maritime Museum this day, 12 August 2022, hosted the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding between the General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, and the Director General of Customs (DGD), Mr. Fongod Edwin Nuvaga.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding aims at setting up a framework for collaboration, consultation and data exchange between these two public institutions with a view to making Cameroon's foreign trade more competitive.

Speaking in a hall full of esteemed guests and representatives of some African Shippers' Councils, the two top officials pledged to scrupulously respect the contractual commitments made by both institutions.

This MoU will enable the signatories to better fulfill their missions, especially with regards to customs cargo clearance, the reduction of cargo transit time and transport costs, as well as the seamless management of goods at border points, all of which will improve trade flows between Cameroon and its foreign partners.

Today’s signing ceremony coincided with the sub-regional workshop of UASC experts organised by the Union of African Shippers' Councils (UASC) on the role of Shippers' Councils in the implementation of the AfCFTA. The said workshop, taking place at UASC's headquarters in Douala, ends today.
