A delegation led by Mr. Cyrus Ngo'o, General Manager of the Port Authority of Douala (PAD), was in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 5 to 9 September 2022. The business trip was amongst the activities planned in view of the renovation and modernization of the Douala - Bonaberi seaport.

PAD's delegation included members of its Board of Directors, General Managers of port and maritime companies, and some PAD staff. Another key member of the delegation was Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), a public establishment committed to promoting Cameroon's foreign trade by improving on the competitiveness of Cameroonian ports.

Upon arrival, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Donancier Mebouegue, head of Cameroon's diplomatic mission in Dubai. This working visit was equally an opportunity for the Cameroonian delegation to hold talks with officials of World Crane Services (WCS), a landmark company in the maritime transport sector. Discussions at the meeting mainly centred on possible WCS intervention areas in the light of the envisaged extension and development projects at the Douala-Bonaberi seaport.

A second working session was held at the headquarters of Dubai Port World (DPW), UAE's Dubai-based leading multinational logistics company.

On the sidelines of these meetings, the delegation took part in a two-day training workshop on new approaches to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) management and its contribution to the performance of modern ports held at the Conference Hall of the Millennium Palace Barsha Heights Hotel in Dubai. As the first African port to be awarded an ISO 26000 certification, the Port Authority of Douala is attending this training workshop to better understand the relevance of this certification in corporate management. Its participation at this workshop makes evident its determination to hold on to the certification.
