About one hundred children take part in cultural holiday activities.
The 6th edition of the “2021 Special Holiday Programme” commenced at the Douala Maritime Museum on 7 July 2021, ended on 6 August 2021 in the presence of the General Manager of Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda. The one-month event that was meticulously run by cultural experts, notably the Association Les Gazelles, schooled 96 children, boys and girls on local traditional values. During the training, the young lovers of culture were drilled on traditional dances, traditional languages, first aid and songs.
During the closing ceremony, children aged between 2 and 16 demonstrated what they learnt, notably aspects of Cameroon's rich culture. It all started with the execution of the national anthem in the Mbo and Duala languages. The kids treated the public, essentially made up of their parents, to the wonders of the land. Their performances were greeted with thunderous applause each time they mounted the stage.
Before the last act, which saw the children savour a sumptuous meal offered by CNSC Management the young and talented children offered a magnificent present, a well sculpted canoe to the CNSC General Manager, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda. "I was mesmerised by the quality of the performances of these children who held the audience spell-bound," the GM said totally moved. He thanked the parents for their availability and the event facilitators for a job well done. The next appointment was taken for 2022 and the children went home visibly happy with their attendance certificates.
