The Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) was present at the ceremony to launch activities for the 2025 edition of International Women's Day (IWD) in the Littoral region. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, 26 February 2025, in the multi-purpose hall of the Governor's Office, where the CNSC was represented by Mrs. Stella Maah Nkama, President of CNSC Ladies, and Miss Patricia Ngo Bahanak, Supervisory Staff at the Communication and Public Relations Division.
The event, chaired by the representative of the Governor of the Littoral Region and Head of the Region's Administrative and Legal Affairs Division, Mrs. Zenabou Bakary, was attended by some one hundred women from the Wouri, Sanaga Maritime, Moungo, and Nkam divisions.
Key speakers at the ceremony included Senator Marguerite Soppo Sopo, matron of IWD 2025 in the Littoral Region, and Mrs. Gisele Ngombe Eko, Littoral Regional Delegate for Women's Empowerment and the Family. Divisional delegates of the same ministry presented the activity programme of their respective sub-divisions.
Speaking at the ceremony, the representative of the Governor of the Littoral Region reiterated the government's commitment to combating discrimination against women. “Gender equality cannot be imposed by decree; it must be engraved in our minds. To achieve this, we need to raise awareness about sexist tendencies, remove barriers to women's empowerment, and place particular emphasis on the education of young girls...” these are the words Mrs. Zenabou Bakary used to officially launch activities marking the celebration of the 40th edition of International Women's Rights Day in the Littoral Region.
