On 28 January 2025, the North Regional Branch of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) attended the official opening of the Jamtari cross-border trade market in Nigeria's Adamawa State. This project was initiated by the Lamido of Belel in Nigeria, who strongly underlined the need for Cameroonian institutions to be present at the ceremony.
Mr. Habilou Chinmoun, CNSC’s North Regional Branch Manager, and some colleagues were part of the Cameroonian delegation headed by Mr. Essouma Nakong Pascal, District Officer of Demsa. The delegation also included Mr. Sylvanus Forghap, Head of the Gaschiga Customs Office, and Mr. Aladji Adamou Ibrahim, North Regional President of the Cameroon Road Transporters Union (GTTC) and President of the North Region Businessmen's Group (GOPEN).
Well aware of the stakes and potential benefits of this cross-border market, Cameroonian and Nigerian authorities have pledged to provide support to businesses in both countries, as well as to ensure the safety of their goods.
