The Douala Maritime Museum is in full gear for this end-of-year festivities. The building’s facade is colourfully lit at night by electronic garlands that flicker and flash non-stop. The closer visitors get, the more they marvel at its beauty and the brilliance of its multicolored light bulbs.
A tall fir tree, 3 metres high, stands majestically at the entrance to the building. Decorated with baubles, garlands, stars and other Christmas ornaments, the bright green tree leaves no passer-by on rue de l'Hôpital in Bonanjo indifferent.
This decor brings to mind the much-awaited “Christmas at the Douala Maritime Museum” event, which is organised every year by the Management of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC). The 2024 edition of this major attraction for kids aged 3 to 15 will take place on 24 December.
