On 9 September 2021, Fongod Edwin Nuvaga, Director-general of customs presided over a working session in Douala aimed at reviewing the technical and operational requirements for the installation of a fourth scanner at the Douala Port. This is contained in the latest issue of the newsletter published by the Directorate General of customs.

According to the Directorate-general of customs, the new equipment will be used to scan all goods to be exported, following a well-described procedure that is mastered by all stakeholders involved. As a reminder, the first scanner was installed at the Douala Port in June 2006 to help cut transit time. Due to an increase in the volume of goods handled by this port platform, three new scanners were officially commissioned in September 2016.

The new scanner will help the government to speed up the implementation of its systematic scanning policy.
