CAMEROON NATIONAL
SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

A delegation from the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), led by its General Manager Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, has been attending a series of meetings in the town of Garoua since 19 August 2024.

Presided over by the Governor of the North Region, Mr. Jean Abate Edi'i, discussions at these meetings holding from 19 to 23 August 2024 all focus on the re-opening of the Garoua river port and the navigability of the Lagdo and Maga lakes.

The CNSC, committed to protecting the interests of shippers, will take a close look at the studies carried out by the various consultants and visit the port district of Garoua in order to identify recovery strategies to be proposed to the Government for approval.

Initiated by the Port Authority of Douala under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, these renovation works should enable the Garoua river port to become a catalyst for economic growth in the northern regions of Cameroon.

As a reminder, the Port Authority of Douala has been mandated by the Government to deploy its expertise in order to renovate and modernise this river platform with a view to relaunch port activities in the northern regions of Cameroon.
