The opening ceremony for the ordinary session of the Union of African Shippers' Councils (UASC) Steering Committee meeting took place today, 6 December 2023, at the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), host of UASC's headquarters in Douala, Cameroon.
The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the UASC, Mr. Abdoulaye Diop, who doubles as General Manager of the Senegalese Shippers' Council (COSEC); the Secretary General of the UASC, Mr. Abbah Kafougou Abdourahamane; and UASC’s Statutory Treasurer, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, who is also the General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC).
Delegations from the Shippers' Councils of Burkina Faso, Congo, Chad, Mali, Guinea Conakry, Togo, Gabon, Senegal, Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire and Cameroon, were present for the meeting in Douala today.
During the ceremony, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, CNSC's General Manager and host of this high-profile event, reiterated a warm welcome to all those present, and expressed his delight that the conference was being held in Douala.
UASC Chairman and General Manager of COSEC, Mr. Abdoulaye Diop, then officially opened the two-day session slated for 6 and 7 December 2023 in Cameroon.
