On February 4, 2026, the Douala Maritime Museum (DMM) hosted pupils from the Guy Martial Educational Centre in Douala, which caters for children with autism, and students from the Saint Jerome Catholic University Institute in Douala.
These visits, greatly appreciated by these youngsters, form part of the ‘Special Youth’ programme organised by the Douala Maritime Museum every year. The pupils from the Guy Martial Centre benefited from innovative approaches and methods to help them better understand Cameroon's maritime history. Witnessing the children's joy, Mrs Marie Louise Epoh, Director of the Centre, expressed her deep satisfaction at the end of their visit.
Then came the turn of the students from the Saint Jerome Catholic University Institute to discover the various attractions offered at the Douala Maritime Museum, exploring a variety of exhibitions, the Storm Room and the tale of its hero Malobe, as well as the maritime navigation simulator. Their visit ended with interactive discussions between the students and the tour guides, enabling them to better understand Cameroon's maritime history.
