CAMEROON NATIONAL
SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

From the point of view of cost and impact, the most important projects that the CNSC is carrying out to facilitate goods transit to and from landlocked neighbouring countries is the construction of accommodation centres.

An accommodation centre is a multifunctional complex with all the requisite amenities for a decent stay (guest houses, canteens, health centres, vehicle maintenance workshop, secure parking and so on).

This project aims to:

- Reduce the unrestrained parking of heavy-duty trucks in urban areas;

- Cut the number of road accidents caused by heavy-duty vehicles along the Douala - Bangui - N’djamena corridors;

- Provide shippers with comfortable rest houses.

To date, The CNSC has embarked on the construction of two trucker accommodation centres. The first one, which is located in Douala near the Dibamba River, was commissioned on 1 July 2019 and the second in Kousseri in the Far North Region.
