On 6 October 2026, in Yaounde, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers’ Council (CNSC) and Chairman of the Ad-hoc sub-committee charged with the implementation of the AfCFTA Guided Trade Initiative, took part in a ceremony to officially launch the support project for the mobilisation of the African Continental Free Trade Area for cross-border trade (PAMOZ).
Chaired by Trade Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, the event provided an opportunity to highlight the major challenges of this project, implemented by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB). Amongst the challenges is harnessing opportunities offered by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) for cross-border trade, economic inclusion and strengthening resilience in sensitive areas. Consequently, discussions envisaged will focus on Cameroon’s strategic corridors such as the Douala/Kribi–Bangui/N’Djamena corridor.
For some years now, the CNSC has undertaken to construct trucker accommodation centres along these corridors with the aim to facilitate cargo transport. The institution welcomes the PAMOZ initiative, which is a significant contribution to boost Cameroon’s foreign trade.
