Cameroon's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Gabriel Mbairobe, paid a visit to the exhibition stand of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) on 12 June 2024 while touring the Salon International des Industries et Techniques Agropastorales du Septentrion (SIAGROS) currently taking place in Garoua.
He was received by the Branch Manager of the CNSC Far North Regional Office, Mr. Idrissou Hamadou, along with other colleagues, who briefed the States man on the missions and routine activities of the CNSC in that part of the country since the opening of its North Regional Office on 7 May 2024.
This brief discussion session was an opportunity to present various trade facilitation infrastructure erected by the CNSC along the Douala/Kribi - Ndjamena and Douala/Kribi -Bangui road corridors, with a view to promoting Cameroon’s cross-border trade. Minister Gabriel Mbairobe congratulated and encouraged the CNSC for its deployment in the northern regions of the country.
The CNSC's participation in this maiden edition of SIAGROS is mainly to inform visitors and other exhibitors about all the facilities and services offered by the CNSC to help them conduct their import/export operations in the most efficient way, and to promote Made in Cameroon products.
Given that the Northern Region has a remarkable rice production capacity, many businessmen in the sector were sensitised and informed about the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). These information campaigns will continue until the end of the SIAGROS fair on 16 June 2024.
