The Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) took part in the preparatory meeting towards the upcoming General Assembly of the Women in Maritime Africa Association (WIMAFRICA), held in Lomé - Togo, from 2 to 5 December 2024.
Mrs. Fabiola Ngono, Ass. Service Head for Litigations at the CNSC, was part of Cameroon's delegation to Togo, where she provided valuable input to discussions on the revision of the Association's by-laws.
The Cameroonian delegation also included delegates from the Port Authority of Douala (PAD), the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK) and the National Ports Authority (NPA). In addition to reviewing the Association's by-laws, the meeting also provided an opportunity for the ladies to learn more about the development of the African maritime sector through a series of workshops.
Delegates to the Lome meeting were received by Togo's Minister of Maritime Economy and Coastal Protection, Mr Richard Gbalgueboa Kangbeni. They equally held working sessions with officials from the Lome Port Authority who delivered a presentation on “Major challenges of marine pollution”.
A number of amendments were proposed to the by-laws of WIMAFRICA. These amendments will be discussed, prior to adoption, at the Association's next General Assembly billed for March 2025 in South Africa.
