The 10th edition of the African Shippers' Days, organised by the Congolese Shippers' Council in collaboration with the Union of African Shippers' Councils (UASC), kicked off on 14 July 2025 in Pointe Noire on the theme: “National Shippers' Councils in the face of contemporary challenges in maritime transport and international trade”.
Torch bearer for Cameroonian shippers, the CNSC took an active part in this event, represented by several experts, including Mr. Yamen Achil, Technical Adviser; Mr. Tsaguim Elvis, Director of Operations; Mr. Nguimbous Georges, Sub Director for Development and Applications; and Mrs. Maliki Aicha, Sub Director for Trade Facilitation.
This was an opportunity for Africa's maritime and international trade experts to examine in greater depth how to protect the interests of shippers in the face of challenges facing the continent's foreign trade.
Over 200 participants (maritime sector players, specialists and government officials) from various African countries, attended a plethora of technical presentations on a range of topics, such as sustainable transport, digitization, incorporating blockchains, empowering shippers' councils, freight rate fluctuations and the AfCFTA.
A number of setbacks in the transport logistics chain were identified, to which measures and actions were proposed for a more efficient flow of foreign trade volumes in Africa.
These workshops also served as a prelude to the 14th UASC General Assembly, following which important decisions will be taken to ensure the smooth running of the organisation.
