CAMEROON NATIONAL
SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

The 12th edition of the Douala Maritime Museum's "Fun and Educational Holidays" programme, an initiative of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), came to an end on Saturday, 13 August 2022. The closing ceremony, brimming with fun, was attended by Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, CNSC General Manager and many parents who came to see the exploits of their children. After barely three weeks of learning and immersion into the culture of some coastal tribes, these kids dazzled their audience.

Dressed in traditional attire, the 40 or so young holidaymakers, aged between 4 and 16, kept the audience enthralled for almost two hours. In their performances, they attempted to re-enact on stage the essential lessons learned during the dance, percussion, singing and theatre arts workshops, as well as utter a few expressions in some traditional languages of the Cameroonian coast, notably Duala and Batanga. Each of their performances was greeted with a resounding ovation from the audience.

The closing ceremony was equally an opportunity to exhibit the different works of art fashioned by the young holidaymakers during the plastic arts workshop. In all diligence, the younger participants drew, coloured and reproduced marine species on paper, much to the delight of their parents. Before the award of certificates of participation, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda commended the assiduity of the kids, congratulated their instructors and thanked the parents for their usual collaboration with the Douala Maritime Museum.
