CAMEROON NATIONAL
SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council Hub for Cameroon, Gabon and Togo held its first meeting of the year on 19 January 2024 at the head office of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) in Douala. The meeting was presided by its Chair, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, who expressed his determination to see the CWEIC HUB Cameroon - Gabon - Togo stay on course by achieving better performances in 2024.

The meeting was an opportunity to examine planned activities on CWEIC's calendar for 2024, and to inform the various strategic partners of the opportunities available to them around the world. Particularly interest was placed on the holding of the first Global Advisory Council (GAC) of the Cameroon-Gabon-Togo Hub, scheduled to take place from 5 to 9 February 2024 in Gabon.

This event, which will be attended by CWEIC's Vice-Chairman Lord Hugo SWIRE, is extremely important for Cameroon's strategic partners given their geographic proximity to Gabon. The meeting therefore examined the various practical aspects of the GAC, and also explored ways of enhancing the visibility and competitiveness of the CWEIC HUB Cameroon-Gabon-Togo on a sub-regional level.

Organisations represented at this first meeting of the year included CAMTEL, FEICOM, Port Authority of Douala, the Investment Promotion Agency, the CNSC and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others. An appointment was taken for a follow-up GAC preparatory meeting on 2 February 2024.
