Electronic payment goes operational

ECTN now payable via mobile phone

Effective from 15 May 2020, export and regularisation Electronic Cargo Tracking Notes (ECTNs) are payable electronically through mobile money. This important measure is part and parcel of the strategy put in place by the CNSC to check the spread of Covid-19. "In addition to combating the pandemic, the CNSC would like to reaffirm its determination to irreversibly commit to dematerialising all its services," Auguste Mbappe Penda, CNSC General Manager said. A dematerialisation committee chaired by the Deputy General, Mr. Younouss Soungui is working to implement the process.

This initiative forms part of the process of dematerialisation of foreign trade procedures underway at the CNSC and recommended by the government of Cameroon at the Cameroon Business Forum. The ECTN is now payable using the mobile phone at the ports of Douala, Kribi, Idenau, Tiko and Bota, the airports of Douala and Yaounde as well as at the Cameroon-Equatorial Guinea border. "This is the first step in a series of measures to dematerialise CNSC services," the General Manager added. "We welcome this measure which guarantees efficiency and fluidity in services, thus limiting contact and movement," a shipper acknowledged. In the near future, access tickets for the Douala Maritime Museum and services of the Dibamba Trucker accommodation centre shall also be paid for electronically.
