On 27 February 2025, the Douala Maritime Museum (DMM) welcomed participants from the first graduating batch of the Kribi Port Authority's (PAK) programme run by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Through an exhibition on “Man in his natural environment”, the visitors explored the close relationship between the coastal people and the sea. This experience was heightened by the jolts of the “Storm Room” and the DMM's brand-new navigation simulator, giving them a real-life preview of the challenges of sailing to and from the Douala Sea port.
The visit ended with a virtual discovery of the history and full range of exhibitions of the Douala Maritime Museum, currently the only Maritime Museum in sub-Saharan Africa.
