CAMEROON NATIONAL
SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

One remarkable item on the agenda of activities for the 12th edition of the Trade Fair for Government Action (SAGO), holding in the capital city Yaoundé since 22 July 2023, is the organisation of 15 ministerial conferences. These conferences offer a platform for State establishments to inform Cameroonians on their missions and to clarify the public on some salient concerns within their respective competences.

Wednesday, 26 July 2023, was reserved for the Ministry of Transport and State establishments under its technical supervision. The Conference was chaired by transport minister Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe who succinctly presented each of these establishments giving each of them time to present actions undertaken towards the “Construction of Transport Infrastructure to Boost Economic Growth”, theme of the conference.

The General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers’ Council (CNSC), Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, unavoidably absent, was represented at this conference by Mr. Ngwe Ntot Bienvenu, CNSC Sub-Director for Studies and Projects.

As a reminder, the CNSC has carried out a number of key infrastructural projects. Emphasis can be placed here on the construction of trucker accommodation centres (Dibamba, Ngoulentang, Kribi, Kousseri) and storage warehouses (Tiko, Abang Minko, Bassa Industrial Zone, Douala Port) along Cameroon’s main transport corridors leading to Chad (Djamena) and the Central African Republic (Bangui).

These projects are part of a vast CNSC program for the construction of trade facilitation infrastructure throughout the national territory. Similar projects are underway in Garoua-Boulai and Ngaoundere where the CNSC is constructing other trucker facilities.
