CAMEROON NATIONAL
SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

The Chadian Shippers' Council (COC Tchad) has just obtained authorisation to build a logistics base at the port of Kribi, located in Cameroon's south region. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed last December 20 in the seaside city between the general manager of the Port Authority of Kribi (PAK), Patrice Melom, and the general manager of the Chadian Shippers' Council, Djougoune Abdoulaye Mourra. This MoU allocates a 5-hectare plot of land to COC Tchad for the construction of its logistics base.

The same MoU provides for the facilitation, simplification and dematerialisation of procedures related to the passage of goods; the promotion of the port of Kribi among Chadian business operators and the exploitation of land allocated to Chadian business operators at the port of Kribi.

Through the company Kribi Containers Terminal (KCT), a joint venture formed by the Bolloré-CMA CGM-CHEC consortium, the port of Kribi handles 53% of the container traffic bound for Cameroon and the hinterland (CAR, Chad, Congo), compared to 47% passing through the Douala terminal, which is operated by the Port Authority of Douala (PAD).
