The official launch of the “Soul Makossa Man” exhibition by photographer and journalist Samuel Nja Kwa was held at the Douala Maritime Museum on 20 November 2024.
This occasion was graced by the Governor of the Littoral Region Mr. Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, special guest of the General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda. The latter expressed his delight at the opportunity to pay tribute to Manu Dibango, the music icon who set sail from Cameroon in the 1950s.
The exhibition, scheduled to run from 20 November to 20 December 2024, features other activities, including talks on the importance of back up singers in Manu Dibango's music, and the "Soul Makossa Man" book launch. This event is a collaborative effort between musicians, writers, philosophers and the journalist Samuel Nja Kwa, who expressed his gratitude to the CNSC for providing support by opening the doors of the Douala Maritime Museum.
