Over 100 participants attended Day 1 of the second edition of the international symposium on the “Relevance of general average in the settlement of marine claims”, launched today, 25 June 2025, in Kribi.
Over three days, participants from Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso, Gabon and Cameroon will be enlightened by a dozen foreign and national experts on key issues about general average. While some were physically present, others participated via Zoom, a videoconferencing platform.
These experts included Mr. Nicholas Parton (advocate at the London Bar), Prof. Martin Ndende (Director of the Maritime and Oceanic Law Centre at the University of Nantes), Mr. Thierry Kepeden (Chairman of the Association of Insurance Companies of Cameroon -ASAC), and Mr. Chawky Mahbouli (barrister at law in the courts of Paris).
They were complemented by Dr. Victor Emmanuel Bokalli (Vice-Rector of the University of Ebolowa), Mr. Gaston Ngamkan (President of the Cameroon Maritime Law Association-ACDM), Prof. Henri Désiré Modi Koko (Honorary Dean of the Faculties of Law and Legal Sciences at the Universities of Douala and Dshang), Mr. Lucien Eboko Moukoko (Damage Assessor - CESAM), and Mr. Serge Azebaze (CEO of Activa Europe).
