The Cameroon National Shippers’ Council (CNSC) hosted a four-man delegation from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council and the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy today Thursday, 21 August 2025. They were received on behalf of CNSC’s General Manager, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, by CNSC’s Technical Adviser No. 1, Mr. Cham Etienne Bama.
On a working visit to Cameroon, the Nigerian delegation is looking to benchmark on CNSC’s key successes with a view to enhance port activities back in Nigeria. Discussions highlighted the existing collaboration between both sister councils which brought about the effective operationalising of the one-stop cross-border post at the Mfum (Nigeria) - Ekok(Cameroon) border, reducing cargo passage time. Other trade facilitation initiatives by the CNSC such as the development of trucker facilities along Cameroon’s road corridors to neighbouring landlocked countries as well as the implementation of the Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) for data collection were also explained in detail.
The Nigerian delegation, led by Mr. Bala Ado from the NSC’s Standards Service Division, lauded the deeper sense of partnership between Cameroon and Nigeria, acknowledging that both countries must continue to work together for effectiveness and transparency in cross-border trade.
Much gratitude was extended to the CNSC’s General Manager for facilitating this visit, which ended with a tour of the Douala Maritime Museum. There, the visitors learned about Cameroon’s maritime history and experienced the thrilling Storm Room, a key attraction of the museum
