The Cameroon National Shippers' Council's (CNSC) contributions to sub-regional integration in the CEMAC region were presented during the first committee meeting of national and international experts for the drafting of the new CEMAC regional economic programme held on 19 September 2024.
The presentation was delivered in the boardroom of the BEAC regional office in Douala by Mr. Télésphore TONYE, CNSC's Sub-Director for Training and International Cooperation. The experts, apprised of the history, missions, foreign trade promotion activities and collaboration prospects of the CNSC, acknowledged by acclamation the important role played by the CNSC in intra-regional trade and in the fight against inflation.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for the CNSC to put forward some difficulties encountered by shippers, which should be taken into account in the drafting of the new CEMAC Regional Economic Programme. Some of the issues raised included the poor mastery of procedures, inadequate infrastructure and lengthy administrative formalities.
Professor Michel-Cyr Djiena Wembou, Permanent Secretary of the CEMAC Economic and Financial Reform Programme, who chaired the meeting, assured participants that proposals made by the CNSCwould be taken into account and confirmed the continuity of this nascent collaboration between both institutions.
