From 26 – 28 October 2022, Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA International), convened for its General Assembly and simultaneously organised a conference at Hotel President Wilson in Geneva-Switzerland. Created in 1974 by a league of women from Germany, the Netherlands, the USA and the United Kingdom, WISTA today counts over 3,000 leading professionals in the maritime, trade and logistics sectors.
The event was an opportunity for WISTA International to make known its key commitments which include the establishment of partnership opportunities on maritime issues, the increased engagement of women in the maritime sector, and the development of relevant training and workshops, among others.
Sharing in WISTA’s move for the increased engagement of women in the maritime and trade sector, the Cameroon National Shippers’ Council (CNSC) had Mrs. Corine Ekongwesse, vice-president of Wista Cameroon, and Mrs. Maliki Aïcha, CNSC Chief of Service for Assistance to Shippers, attend the event under the banner of Wista Cameroon.
Among the key activities of the event was a conference on the theme “Collaboration for Sustainability - Cross-industry solutions for the future of global trade”. Other activities included cultural and sightseeing tours around Geneva.
