To mark the celebration of World Tourism Day today, 27 September 2022, under the theme "Rethinking Tourism", MERCATOUR, a Cameroonian NGO, launched the activities of the 4^th edition of the Sustainable Tourism Fair in Yaoundé.

The importance of this event was highlighted by the presence of the Minister of State, Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Mr. Bello Bouba Maigari, who presided over the symbolic ribbon cutting ceremony launching the fair.

Together with companies from the catering, hotel management, handicraft and travel sectors, the Douala Maritime Museum equally took part in the celebrations.

Through its exhibition stand at the fair, the Douala Maritime Museum presented its attractions to visitors and travel tour organisers. In addition to these exhibitions, other activities such as training sessions by experts from the International Tourism Organization, B2B meetings and a tourist excursion are equally envisaged for this edition which is to end on Saturday, 1 October 2022.

Note that the Douala Maritime Museum, inaugurated on 18 December 2013, is an initiative of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC). This home to some of Cameroon’s cultural and tourist attractions is part of a vast program for the collection, conservation and exhibition of the rich heritage of some tribes along the Cameroonian coast.
