A delegation of port instructors from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is in Douala - Cameroon, and visited the Douala Maritime Museum today, 20 September 2023.

Led by Mr. Dominique Chantrel, Instructor and Program Management Specialist at UNCTAD, the delegation included about a dozen instructors hailing from Canada, Belgium, Togo and Guinea. Another key member of this team of experts was Mr. Jocelin Villier, General Manager of the National Port Authority of Haiti.

The guests, during their tour of the museum’s exhibitions, were given an insight into Cameroon's maritime history by Mr. Patrice Ekwalla, Service Head at the Douala Maritime Museum. They also had the privilege of trying out the museum's brand-new maritime navigation simulator, with assistance from Mr. Michel Mbarga who heads the Navigation Simulator Unit.

By way of reminder, the delegation of instructors from UNCTAD are currently in Douala to take part in the end-of-training defence presentations of the 14th graduating class, for the obtention of the UNCTAD Modern Port Management Certificate.
