The 2nd edition of the African Youth Forum on the Blue Economy (FOJAEB) took place in the city of Taliara, Madagascar, from 17 to 19 April 2025.

 

The event which had as theme "Sustainable Blue Economy: Ownership, Innovation, and Performance for Africa’s Renaissance", was organised under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Madagascar, H.E. Andry Rajoelina.

 

During the forum, Cameroonian-born Professor Martin Ndende, lecturer and Director of the Centre de Droit Maritime et Océanique, received the Special Award of Excellence for Sustainable Blue Economy on the African Continent (Prix d'Excellence de l'Economie Bleue Durable du Continent Africain) upon selection by a dedicated jury.

 

This award was presented at the end of a conference attended by some sixty panelists and a dozen moderators, amongst whom was the lucky recipient, Prof. Martin Ndende.

 

This continental event, which sought to raise awareness among African youth on the opportunities offered by the blue economy, was well attended by governments, private sector organisations, universities and training centers.
