SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

The General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, officially launched a training seminar themed "Foreign Trade Innovations in 2023" on Wednesday, 15 February 2023. The seminar, organized by the CNSC, took place at CNSC's training hall on the 11th floor of its head office building. The primary objective of this seminar is to enable shippers and foreign trade actors to understand and adjust to the changes and innovations brought about by the 2023 finance law so as to remain efficient.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda underlined that the seminar aims at informing participants on these changes in order to save them from any inconveniences in the conduct of their foreign trade operations while making of them better professionals.

Day 1 of the seminar had three major presentations:

- An analysis of freight rate variations in Cameroon using data sourced from the Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN);

- An Assessment of freight rate normalisation in the post-covid era;

- Import-substitution: a policy to guarantee food security.

In order of precedence, the above topics were presented by Mrs. Line-Chimene Gueyitoh of the CNSC, Mr. Blaise Talla of Sorepco and Mr. Yepka Achille of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA).

Day 2, which is the last day of the seminar, will feature a presentation on "New Customs Procedures under the 2023 Finance Law" delivered by experts from the Directorate General of Customs (DGD).
