CAMEROON NATIONAL
SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

The last day of the Commonwealth Trade and Investment Forum (CTIF) held in Dhaka – Bangladesh from 13 to 14 September 2023 was dedicated to showcasing the attractiveness of Cameroon as an investment destination.

Panelists at the session included the General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers’ Council (CNSC) Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, Mr. Philippe Camille Akoa of FEICOM, and Minister Felix Mbayu in charge of Relations with the Commonwealth. They were accompanied by Bangladeshi Minister of Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and Jashim Uddin of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce.

With introductory remarks from Lord Jonathan Peter Marland, Chairman of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), the session was an opportunity for Cameroon’s delegation to throw some light on efforts made by its Government to promote foreign direct investments and measures taken to instill confidence in potential investors. Cameroon could also benefit from the support of the Commonwealth to make basic utilities such as water and electricity accessible in remote areas of the country.

These points were elaborately discussed and emphasis was laid on the creation and role of the CWEIC Hub for Cameroon and Gabon, which serves as a platform for collaboration between the business community of Cameroon and Gabon, and other Commonwealth member States. Currently hosted at the head office of the CNCS in Douala, with Mr. Etienne Cham Bama as Country Director, it is the go-to institution for any potential partners willing to invest in Cameroon.
