The General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) was delighted to receive officials from the Delegation of the European Union to Cameroon on 1 March 2024 at CNSC's head office building in Douala.
The two-man delegation comprised of Mr. Gregor Schneider (EU Africa Regional Counsellor) and Mr. Stephane Andre (Head of the Trade Section) visited the CNSC to establish initial contact with prospects for collaboration between the CNSC and the EU Delegation in raising awareness amongst local SMEs on the opportunities offered by the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) signed between Cameroon and the EU.
Besides identifying reasons why Cameroonians still fail to take advantage of the EPA and finding ways to materialise the win-win partnership sought by the Agreement, the meeting was also an occasion to present the CNSC's achievements towards the promotion of Cameroon's foreign trade.
Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda reassured his audience of the CNSC's readiness to make SMEs aware of EPA advantages with a view to increase Cameroon's exports to the European Union.
The. Regional Counsellor and the Head of the Trade Section of the EU Delegation in Cameroon expressed their satisfaction with the quality and relevance of all the information shared at the meeting. Mention was made of the need for the EU Delegation and the CNSC to jointly organise an EPA awareness-raising seminar for shippers and SMEs in the weeks ahead
