The CNSC took part in the Land-Linked Zambia (LLZ) conference held from 9 to 12 April 2025 in Lusaka, Zambia, under the theme “Adopting smart transport corridors in Africa”.

Now in its 4th year, the Land-linked Zambia conference was officially launched on 10 April 2025 at the Ciêla Resort Hotel in Lusaka by His Excellency Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia.

The conference brought together SADC (Southern African Development Community) transport ministers, decision-makers, investors, financiers, trade support institutions, industrialists, logistics and transport professionals.

In his opening speech, His Excellency Mr. Hakainde Hichilema urged African countries to multiply incentives to facilitate and accelerate intra-African trade, notably through the removal of barriers to trade and the development of infrastructure such as roads, railroads and one-stop border checkpoints. Above all, he called on financial institutions to guarantee attractive conditions for credit access towards Africa's development.

The CNSC was represented at the event by Mr. Joseph Franck Bion, Service Head for Transport Observatory; Mr. Emmanuel Sone Makoge, Service Head for Import Assistance; and Mr. Cyrille Tiki Bonam, Assistant Service Head for Statistics and Data Processing.

The topics discussed focused on the development of transport corridors, the role of seaports in the development of transport corridors, cross-border trade, transport financing, the role of logistics and transport in the implementation of the AfCFTA, the impact of the transport sector on climate change and the financing of transport infrastructure in Africa.

The 2025 edition of the Land-linked Zambia conference ended with a visit to three road corridors linking Zambia to Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Botswana.
