SHIPPERS' COUNCIL

Minimum applicable rates for cargo transport

Today, 9 June 2022, Mr. Younouss Soungui, Deputy General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), is chairing the last sectoral consultation meeting between shippers and road transporters at the CNSC. Initiated on 26 April 2022, the final report of these sectoral meetings at the CNSC is due for adoption at today's plenary session and will subsequently be forwarded to the Minister of Trade.

Launched on 6 May 2022, these consultations were recommended by Trade Minister, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana. This was after a meeting held with trade stakeholders on 21 April 2022 in Yaoundé.

The main purpose of these consultations was to determine the minimum rates applicable for the transportation of different types of goods within the country, to ensure that transporters receive fair compensation for their labour.
