The issue of utility regulation is the focus of discussions at the 21st Annual General Assembly of the African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR) held in Douala from 4 to 7 March 2025. This year's edition, attended by the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) and several other companies, has as theme: “Use of smart technologies in public services: How can regulators foster innovation while protecting consumers?
The opening ceremony on 4 March 2025 was chaired by Mr. Njoya Zakariaou, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Transport, in the presence of the Governor of the Littoral Region, Mr. Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, AFUR’s President, Mr. Demanou Tapamo, Directors of FIRC (Forum des Institutions de Régulation du Cameroun) member institutions, and an array of experts.
Mr. Younousss Soungui, CNSC Deputy General Manager sat in for the ceremony, as personal representative of Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, CNSC's General Manager. He was accompanied by Messrs. Fernand Douglas Nolga, Director for Trade Facilitation; Dippah Kayesse, Director for Communications; and Owono Bob Philippe Olivier, CNSC Centre Regional Branch Manager.
It is worth recalling that the CNSC is a member of FIRC and an observer member at AFUR, which is currently meeting in Cameroon
