The Secretary General of the Union of African Shippers' Councils (UASC), Giscard Lilian Ogoula, chaired the virtual meeting from the training hall of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC) today, 7 June 2023.
About twenty participants took part in the face-to-face and online Zoom session. These representatives of virtually all the nineteen shippers' councils of the Union's member countries mainly discussed on the need to harmonise the Cargo Tracking Note, as already recommended by a number of UASC Steering Committees.
By convening this meeting, UASC’s Secretariat is acting on the Steering Committee's recommendation to examine the relevance of the harmonisation of the CTN in all member countries, with a view to make suggestions to the various General Managers as to how it might be implemented.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Giscard Lilian Ogoula thanked the participants, who all agreed to meet again in Douala in a month's time, while they gathered more in-depth information on the issue.
