In the run-up to International Women's Rights Day, which will be celebrated on 8 March 2026, the Douala Maritime Museum is hosting a group art exhibition themed “MATRIMOINE.” This exhibition, open until 29 March this year, spotlights the creative genius of nine Cameroonian female visual artists across some thirty pieces.
The General Manager of the Cameroon National Shippers' Council (CNSC), Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, launched the exhibition on 27 February 2026, with many dignitaries and guests in attendance, such as the Douala City Mayor, Dr. Roger Mbassa N'Dine, the Consul General of France in Douala, Mr. Jean-Charles LEDOT, the Honorable Albert DOOH Collins, the 1st Vice President of the Littoral Regional Council, HRH Gaston EPEE MBODI, and the Deputy Director General of the Douala General Hospital, Prof. KEDY KOUM MANGAMBA.
The visual artists who signed up for this initiative were Alida YMELE, Bienvenue FOTSO, Kaeth FOUDA, Lauriane YOUGANG, Brenda JUINE, Stéphanie NYANGONO, Suzanne EPEA, Winnie SONGMENE, and Leuna NOUMBIMBOO.
The ladies took turns praising this initiative and expressing their gratitude to CNSC's General Manager. The “MATRIMOINE” art exhibition aims to promote Cameroon's cultural identity, a commitment taken by the Douala Maritime Museum.
