The Cameroon National Shippers' Council organised its first periodic market on 26 July 2024 at the parking lot of the CNSC Ngoulentang Trucker Accommodation Centre, located on National Road No. 10. The ceremony was presided over by CNSC's General Manager, Mr. Auguste Mbappe Penda, accompanied by several authorities and elites of the Nyong et Mfoumou Division.
More than 2,500 women from 7 networks of women's associations are benefiting from this initiative, which for them is an opportunity to quickly sell the produce from their farms to shippers and other road users plying the Douala-Kribi-Bangui road corridor. Amongst the foodstuffs on sale were plantains, cassava, bananas, pineapples, palm nuts and local fish species.
The president of the Réseau des Associations Féminines de l'Arrondissement d'Ayos, Mrs. Simone Miyono, expressed her gratitude to the CNSC for the organisation of this periodic market which will help solve the market outlet problem faced by these women.
Invited to the event, the president of the Cameroon Bayamsellam Association, Mrs. Marie Mballa Biloa, reassured the CNSC of her total support towards the materialisation of this initiative. The CNSC will henceforth organise this periodic market on every last Friday of the month.
