On 7 May 2026, two hundred and thirty first-year Tourism, Hospitality, and Cultural Heritage students from the University of Buea visited the Douala Maritime Museum. The group was led by Mr. Louis Yong Tambia, lecturer and Divisional Delegate for Tourism and Leisure for Kupe Muanenguba. This visit to the Douala Maritime Museum gave the students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history and environment of the Cameroonian coast, and to examine the artifacts displayed in the museum.
From traditional canoes to miniature models of modern ships and many other objects, the various collections served as real-time educational resources for these young students. They also seized this opportunity to learn more about the different professions related to museum management, conservation, museography and the valorisation of tangible and intangible assets of the marine world.
