Truck drivers and the local community all trooped to the CNSC Dibamba Trucker Accommodation Centre on Thursday, 7 May 2026, to take part in the free awareness-raising and screening campaign on eye diseases. The awareness-raising campaign was organised by The UBA Foundation with support from the Cameroon National Sippers’ Council (CNSC), the Cameroon Road Transporters' Association (GTTC) and the Presbyterian Eye Hospital (ACHA) in Douala.

 

The aim was to raise awareness among truck drivers on the importance of healthy eyes for safety on the wheel as they carry out their activities. On hand were medical teams who conducted eye tests and examinations seeking to detect eye conditions such as cataracts and glaucoma. 


At the end, Mr. Mohamadou Hafis Said, head of the CNSC Dibamba trucker facility, saluted the enthusiasm raised by this initiative.  Close to a hundred people were consulted, with medical follow-up recommended and reading glasses offered to the local populations and truck drivers who needed one.
